School is upon us once again

School time again! Wow, summer went by fast but I was ready for the kids to go back to school. Being pregnant has been hard on me this time around and I needed my break during the day. Gavin is in 2nd grade this year. The cool thing about it is that he is in a 2nd/ 3rd grade combined class. Gavin, along with a few other kids, were picked by his 1st grade teacher to be in this combined class. Gavin has come a long way. He is reading at a 3rd-4th grade reading level and is doing well. He loves school and says he loves his teacher. His math skills have improved dramatically since the first of this school year. His teacher is the head chair of the math department for the whole school. I am very very proud of this boy. Also, this year, we have noticed Gavin has been drawing a lot and doing well at that. Gavin drew Winnie the Pooh and the Huffalump. HE DID NOT TRACE THESE!(see below) I was so impressed. He told us he was reading the chapter book of Winnie the Pooh and decided to get out his Disney book of Winnie the Pooh and draw him. We couldn't believe that he had done this. One of my cousins is an artist and has some great talent so I know it runs in the family. He is now taking an art class every week and is loving it!

Josh is hopefully in his final year of preschool. I say hopefully because his evaluation isn't until April. In April, we will know more about where he is at. This kid is super smart and super cute! He is growing up so fast but in some ways, he is still my little baby. He loves school. He is in the graduating class this year and seems to really enjoy it. He still rides the bus. His favorite teacher, Ms. Sally from last year, moved up to his class, so he was happy about that.
We have Joshua doing PT 4 times per week: two days in the classroom at school and two days at a physical therapy center for children about 1 mile from our home. He looks forward to physical therapy every day! Joshua is looking forward to his new little brother joining our family in a couple weeks. He kisses my tummy whenever he can and he says he can't wait to hold Garrett.

It's funny how much more Gavin looks like Josh when he has his glasses on. And wow, those drawings are really good!!! He definitely has a talent there. I'm glad you are enjoying some quiet time before the baby comes - savor it all you can!!
